Tip for making your own felt

So after reading up on felt, and reconstructing sweaters and such, I learned an awesome fact!!!

Here it is: You can make your own felt out of a 100% wool sweater that you wash in HOT water then dry in the dryer on HIGH heat.

AWESOME , Right?!?!

If you have accidentally done this before like this guy:

and threw the sweater away (like me), you are now kicking yourself for the wasted crafting material.
What an awesome way to get a completely unique crafting material,
You can be almost positive no one else will have anything like it!
A great source for a sweater (like the beaut above) would be your local thrift store. You can find a stained up or perhaps a sweater donated that someone else already "messed up" for you for pennies on the dollar.
Their loss is your crafting gain!

Oh the possibilities of these wonderful argyle diamonds for flower making and trimming.

Oh I forgot to mention that the felt does not need to be edged or hemmed when created this way.  So go and find an "ugly" wool sweater at the thrift store or that someone gifted you (you know the one that's been hanging out in the back of the closet for the last three years while you work up the courage to wear it, but cant throw it away because it would hurt grandmothers feelings?  yah that one) and go crazy making felt flowers and embellishments!

Hope you have a great time!!
Leave me a comment or email letting me know how your re-purposing turned out.
I would love to hear from you!!
